THE HUMANITY HIKER

Come along with me as I embark on an extraordinary mission to hike around the globe; it's a crusade with a purpose. I am intertwining the thrill of adventure with compassion. Running a charity to raise fund so I can complete small-scale construction projects. Designed to help communities and provide essential infrastructures to those who need them most.

As I traverse this magnificent planet, I’ll also be extending an invitation to souls grappling with depression. This journey is an opportunity for helping and healing, a chance to immerse in the nurturing embrace of nature while contributing to a greater cause. Together, we will step away from personal crises and walk towards a horizon of hope and connection. Join me in this endeavour, where one step at a time we’ll move towards changing the lives of others' and our own.

Who am I?

Christopher Neil Maclurcan

A 29-year-old Australian who whilst laying under starlit skies and roaming the sunbaked Outback, had a deep-seated yearning for adventure and a grander destiny take root. a journey beyond the familiar horizons of my homeland. fueled by the understanding of life's fleeting nature being just a dance of moments and memories. Steered my path along a mosaic of experiences, I dabbled in careers, flirted with different cultures on a quest for my place in the world, I tried the conventional life but it always felt like a mismatch. Instead, I found solace in the arms of chaos, in the unpredictable rhythm of the uncharted.

Now, with a spirit as untamed as the landscapes I seek, I am setting out to traverse deserts, scale peaks, and wade through ancient rainforests. My plan is broken into three phases HIKE around the world, HELP those I can, HEAL emotional turmoil. This expedition is more than a mere physical challenge, it's a cure for my purpose anxiety. It intertwines the exploration of the vast tapestry of Earth’s majesty with the discovery of inner landscapes. A place to heal from psychological demons that have been a plague. An environment to create change with my NGO, a passion project driven by the desire to reciprocate kindness. Lastly, a calling to individuals battling depression to come and join me, take a step into the unknown, where each horizon is a promise of enlightenment and every step is a dance with destiny. We’ll share experiences, form genuine connections, and explore both external and internal landscapes.

Hike

So I’m going hike around the world but my expedition is more than just a physical journey; it's a path of self-discovery and healing. The culmination of a series of life-altering events. From circumnavigating Australia to exploring the world, my adventures exposed me to the joy of connecting with nature and diverse cultures.

My psychological struggles assisted in the subconscious destruction of some of the most important relationships in my life. I hit rock bottom, and my severe anxiety and depression spiraled taking me to the depths of despair, on the brink of suicide. It was in this abyss that I stumbled upon Tom Turcich's global journey it served as a beacon of inspiration that ignited the spark to pull myself out of the rut and embark on my own journey.

My hike is more than conquering distances; It’s a cathartic exploration. An idea emerging as a response to the chaos in my life. An opportunity to shed old coping mechanisms, and cultivate newfound emotional awareness. This expedition is a commitment to redemption, a duty to those I hurt, and a shared exploration of internal and external landscapes. As I step into the unknown, the mission remains clear – to help, one step at a time.

Help

Understanding that helping others could be the antidote to purpose anxiety. I sought ways to create a positive change. Not for fame or glory, but something to be proud of. Fundraising for charities seemed like a noble idea, but I felt disconnected, unsure of the real impact my contributions would have amid concerns of corruption and inefficiency.

Thus I’m launching my own NGO. A way to reciprocate the kindness shown to me. I aim to directly assist those who demonstrated generosity especially those with limited means. I envision projects like installing solar systems, providing water access, building homes, and supporting sustainable food sources.

Acknowledging the multitude of NGOs worldwide, I aim to address the issues I faced when choosing a charity. Operating as a one-man team means donations will have an impact where it's needed most, on the ground. The use of social media as my documentation tool means donors will get a direct look at the effect of their contributions. Transparency is not just a commitment; but a natural outcome of keeping everyone connected to the ongoing narrative, maintaining trust, and cultivating a shared sense of purpose among everyone involved in this remarkable journey.

Heal

At the heart of my ambitious plan I want to extend a lifeline to individuals struggling with depression or suicidal tendencies. And invite anyone to join me on either the hike or participate in construction projects. As a means to step away from the crisis points, they might be finding themselves in. By openly sharing my own experiences, I aim to break the stigma surrounding mental health and create a supportive community where long-lasting friendships and bonds can form, acting as a support network for each other’s healing journey.

Collaborating with suicide prevention groups, I aspire to form partnerships that amplify the positive effects of my mission. I am considering additional training in counselling and coaching. Committed to enhancing my understanding of the human psyche through various means. Possibly inviting experts for guidance and comprehensive support.

In constructing projects, the aim is to create a collaborative environment where participants contribute based on their strengths. The screening process for candidates is straightforward – casual communication to establish a connection and ensure awareness of the journey's nature. Anyone feeling the potential mental health benefits is welcomed with open arms.

As Phase Three takes shape, My primary role is to be a friend and fellow traveler who brings a unique blend of knowledge about both navigating the world and understanding mental health. While I may not have a solution for every problem, I believe in the power of genuine human connection. So, as I hike around the world, my role as a mental health supporter will intertwine with my identity as a traveler

My mission is clear: to help, one step at a time.
